About Me

Anthony Saldutto is a Canadian artist and elected member of the CSPWC (Canadian Society Painters in Watercolour) a member of the Toronto Watercolour Society, and also a member of the International Watercolour Society.

Experienced in watercolours and oils for over 35 years, his
work creates a sense of familiarity and incites a sentimental moment that resonates on a personal level to each viewer.
His media of choice is watercolour, and his style is unique and personal, his attention to detail is what draws emotion from each piece.
Although born in Toronto, Anthony, moved to Italy as an infant and then returned at the age of fifteen. It was early in life when he knew that art was very much a part of his ambition. He pursued his talent by studying Graphic Design.
Law enforcement also attracted his attention influencing his decision to join the Toronto Police Service.
After 30 years of dedicated service Anthony is now retired and focuses his time and passion on painting.

Anthony’s paintings have received many nominations and awards, they have been reproduced as limited editions and sold throughout Canada and the United States as well as for various charitable organizations. They have been featured in magazines and newspapers and are proudly displayed in private homes, police and government buildings throughout North America and Europe. Anthony continues to produce original pieces that represent new experiences as well as portray the inherent beauty of nature in the way he knows best, with his paintbrush.

ARTIST STATEMENT

It is always the small details that I remember when I choose a landscape or location to paint. These details are the inspiration and the challenge in all my pieces. Before even beginning, I can actually visualize the colours, the shapes, the shadows, I can anticipate where the details will be. These details are the inspiration and the challenge in all my pieces. I like it when a place has been around long enough that its details are overlooked. By focusing on the small cracks on the walls, the rusted colour of a door hinge, the moss on a wet rock or the sun flickering through the autumn leaves, it’s the details, not only in my painting style, but in the places themselves I hope to reconnect with.
